The end of the open office?

The company that designed the open office concept for companies such as Microsoft and Google now says in an article in Fast Company that the concept has failed. After surveying clients and conducting research, clients said that their office is noisy, lacks privacy, can be sexist and may contribute to people leaving their job.

While we don’t think the open office concept is going to go away, the larger question is how will internal communications teams adjust their programs as employees return to the office in either traditional, hybrid or open environments.  We see an opportunity to increase connection, empathy and good will among employees and believe that this will an important part of the success formula for companies of every size and sector.
